Coast Guard searches for man overboardFree Access

A search continued late this afternoon (Sunday, Feb. 6) for a man who reportedly fell off a shrimp boat about seven miles northeast of Port Aransas earlier in the day, according to the Coast Guard.

Missing is Michael Ramirez, 40, who slipped and fell from a boat called the Lady Nora, said a Coast Guard news release.

The release said Ramirez was the captain of the vessel. The release didn’t identify the city in which Ramirez lives, and a Coast Guard spokesman said she didn’t have that information.

Ramirez wasn’t wearing a life jacket, the release said.

The Coast Guard got a radio report about 7 a.m. today that the man had fallen overboard.

A helicopter, airplane and two boats from the Coast Guard searched for Ramirez.

Also involved in the search was a good-Samaritan fishing vessel, the Mr. Webb.

Anyone with information should contact the Coast Guard in Corpus Christi at (361) 939-0450.
