Christmas parade slated Saturday

The holiday season in Port A will kick off with the annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Everyone is invited to participate by decorating a golf cart or any motorized vehicle with a Christmas theme. Participants are encouraged to wear holiday-themed clothing.

Lineup will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Port A Pizzeria at South Station Street and Avenue G. The parade will get underway at 5 p.m.

A $10 entry fee will be collected during the parade lineup. All money raised will be donated to the Emergency Services Toy Roundup to help purchase Christmas gifts for needy Port Aransas kids.

From the Pizzeria, the parade will travel west on Avenue G, then north on Alister Street, east on Cotter Avenue, south on Station Street and east on Oakes Avenue to the Community Center, where the parade will end.

Festivities will continue near the sand sculpture sponsored by the Port Aransas Tourism Bureau and Chamber of Commerce. It’s across Oakes Avenue from the Community Center.

Folks are invited to stick around for cookies and hot chocolate where the first- and second-place winners for the best decorated and costumed combination will be announced.

Spectators also are invited to make donations to the Roundup during the event.
