Christmas Care and Share Drive
If you haven’t yet made a donation to the VFW Care and Share Christmas Food Drive, it’s not too late to do so.
Every year since 1991, members of the Moore-McDonald VFW Post 8967 have collected donations to help put Christmas dinner on the tables of Port Aransans experiencing tough times.
Post members have been collecting cash donations to purchase gift cards for Port Aransas families and individuals to purchase the makings for Christmas meals.
Although the gift cards will be distributed to those who applied for help on Friday, Dec. 16 and Saturday, Dec. 17, the post will continue to accept donations.
A Care Share drive organizer said that any gift cards not given out will be used to help folks who need aid through the year.
Donations have been made through the checkout stands at the Family Center IGA, at the post and through mail-in donations.
Donations can still be made at the post, 311 N. Alister St., or mailed to VFW Care and Share, P.O. Box 1447, Port Aransas, TX 78373.
In 2021, the VFW provided gift cards for Christmas dinners to 150 families and individuals.
