Cars stalled and floated in waist-deep water while friendly folks with trucks attempted to pull them out in this photo appearing in the Feb. 11, 1993 edition of the South Jetty. Port Aransas made headlines on Tuesday of that week when an immense amount of rain fell on the island. More than 6 inches of rain was rumored to have come down in just a few hours, and even areas that didn’t usually flood became ocean-front property in the middle of town.
