BMS netters make debut on Bluff courts

Brundrett Middle School’s tennis team took a week-and-a-half of practice to Flour Bluff where they faced a team that has been on the courts since the first day of school on Thursday, April 13.

“It was a great learning experience for our kids,” said Steve Reaves, head coach and athletic director.

The pro-set format involved doubles matches composed of six games, and each team played at least two sets.

“I am very pleased with how we played,” Reaves said, noting that “It’s hard to manage 50 players – but I love our numbers.”

The Port Aransas players weren’t completely blown off the courts, and managed to pick up a couple of sets against the more experienced players, Reaves said.

Sydney Herndon and Miles Parsons won their set, 6-4; Kyler

Spaeth and Ian McClelland won, 6-4; Hannah Ramsden and Ava Smith won, 6-2; and Jerry Templeton and Aiden Porter won, 6-3.
