The Marlins exploded in the first quarter, taking a massive 31 points against the Badgers 6 points. Continuing to hit hard on defense, Port Aransas held Ben Bolt to 14 points, while putting up 54 points on the board at the end of the first half.
The Marlins slowed down offensively in the second half, but maintained a strong defense to hold the Badgers to only 17 points in the second half. The Marlins put up 32 points, winning with a 55-point lead.
“Jackson Willoughby had a monster game against Ben Bolt,” coach Joe Kocurek said. “(Ben Bolt) didn’t put up much resistance at all for us.”The top scorers against the Badgers were Willoughby with 30 points and Austin Scott with 13 points.
“Blake Roberson just played stellar ball with numerous rebounds and steals,” Kocurek said. “We’re healthy; we’re ready for playoffs.”
Willoughby put up three 3-point shots with Trout Lorette and Austin Scott, both putting up one 3-point shot each.
