Illness and injuries took a toll on the Lady Marlins in a road game against Banquete on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
The trip home on the low side of a 28-56 score made for a long ride for teammates who are adjusting to playing in different positions and different roles, according to their coach, Stephanie Cowen.
After a halftime conversation about being willing to shoot the ball and be aggressive, the Lady Marlins returned to the hardboards willing to shoot and turned in a “big second half,” Cowen said. “But we were in such a hole” by then it was hard to come back, she added.
Eva Baker had a “big night being a guard. She’s a freshman and played well,” Cowen said.
