Bake sale to benefit seniors; volunteers for SandFest needed

Project Graduation will be manning a bake sale Saturday, April 21, at the Family Center IGA as well as working at SandFest Friday, April 20 through Sunday, April 22, so the organization is looking for volunteers.

The bake sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will include the opportunity to buy tickets for a drawing to win a two-night stay at a Cinnamon Shore condo (including golf cart). Tickets are $5 each or five for $20, with the drawing to be held June 1 at the Project Graduation event.

For those who would like to work on the beach during SandFest, call Bev Gilbreath at (361) 739-6857.

Volunteers are needed for two-hour shifts Friday through Sunday to do odd jobs such as taking tickets and cleaning up trash.

High school juniors and seniors who volunteer will accumulate extra opportunities to win what Gilbreath called “awesome prizes” at Project Graduation.

Other bake sales are scheduled for Saturday, May 5 and Saturday, May 19, and volunteers are sought for those events as well.

Project Graduation, a nonprofit organization, is a lockin party for Port Aransas High School seniors and juniors on graduation night.

It is an alcohol- and chemical free party during which games and activities are played and seniors win prizes donated by merchants.
