Art classes for kids, adults slated at center

The Port Aransas Art Center is offering several workshops in June for families and adults. A free Family Art Day is set for Saturday, June 11. New classes and workshops are scheduled in June for adults and children at the Port Aransas Art Center.

Family Art Day

Anita Krampitz will teach families how to create block people on Saturday, June 11.

Drop in with the kids anytime between 1 and 3 p.m. to complete the Family Art Day project to take home.

Family Art Days are always free for the kids and their families.

Children must be accompanied by adults the entire time.

Family Art Day is funded by a grant from the Valero Energy Foundation.

Paint My Wine Glass

Personalize your own wine glass on Saturday, June 18. Artist Vanessa Spittler will lead the class to paint a wine glass to take home. The class is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. All supplies are provided. The class costs $40 for art center members and $45 for nonmembers.

Wine, Whine and Design

Sea gulls on the beach will be the subject of the workshop on Sunday, June 26, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Artist Greta Watkins will lead a class, step-by-step, to paint the beach scene with sea gulls. The art center will provide all the materials to complete a painting including a 16-by-20-inch canvas, brushes, paints and wine glasses.

Participants may bring their beverages of choice and snacks to share while enjoying an evening of fun and creativity.

The cost of the class is a $40 donation to the art center building fund for members and $45 for nonmembers.
