Art center’s merit winners for March are announced

The Port Aransas Art Center announced the winners of the annual Tiddle Caylor All-Member Show held in March. The winners will be awarded with a Merit Award Exhibition in September where more of their artwork will be on display. The Port Aransas Art Center announced the winners of the annual Tiddle Caylor All-Member Show held in March. The Port Aransas Art Center has announced the winners of the annual Tiddle Caylor All-Member Show held in March

Rita Reed, an art center member artist, was the show’s judge. She determined the first, second and third-place winners. The public voted throughout the month of March to choose the People’s Choice winner.

Reed, a retired English teacher from Port Aransas High School, is an art center volunteer and a stained glass artist.

The first- through third-place and People’s Choice winners will display more of their works at the annual Merit Award Exhibition in September.

The first-place winner was Dennis Pesek with an oil painting titled “Kestrel.”

“Reflection,” a mixed-media/ acrylic piece by Sharon Chatterton, was the second place winner.

The third-place winner was a watercolor titled “Morning on the Guadalupe” by JoAnne Spencer.

Guests who visited the art center during March chose John Morris’s photography titled “At Your Feet” as the People’s Choice winner.

Visit the art center, located at 104 N. Alister St., to view the current exhibit, Squared UP 122 any time during art center hours.The show features 12-by- 12 artwork by member artists in a range of disciplines and mediums, including pastels, oil, acrylics, ceramics, photography, fiber art and more.

The art center is open Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. it is closed on Sunday.
