Actors recognized for roles




Among folks who were honored with Sandy Awards at the Port Aransas Community Theatre on Sunday, Feb. 23, were, from left, Jordan Bruster, who won Sandys for best male vocalist and best supporting actor; Heath Lauseng, best actor; Amanda Tipps, best vocalist and actress; and Ken Yarbrough, best director and best actor. Yarbrough also accepted the best production award for ‘Shrek - The Musical,’ which he directed. Yarbrough also brought much of Shrek’s large cast up on stage to perform a song from the production.

Port Aransas Community Theatre celebrated the talented folks who brought the stage to life during the 2013 season on Sunday, Feb. 23, at the Sandy Awards.

Winning the award for best production was “Shrek the Musical.”

Other awards presented were as follows: Best Actor in a leading role, Heath Lauseng for “Shrek,” Best Actress in a leading role, Amanda Tipps for “Shrek,” Best Actor in a supporting role, a tie between Chuck Thompson for “Daddy’s Dyin’, Who’s Got the Will?” and Jordan Brewster for “Shrek,” Best actress in a supporting role, Katie Sikes for “Daddy’s Dying,” Best Female vocalist, Amanda Tipps for “Shrek,” Best male vocalist, Jordan Bruster for “Shrek,” Best costume design, Ken Yarbrough and Darlene Sechich for “Shrek,” Best set design, Ken Yarbrough and Jeanne Pasch for “Shrek,” Best director, Ken Yarbrough for “Shrek,” Brian Miller and Savannah Sterling received recognition for Technical Director, Ken Yarbrough honored his youth technicians and youth actors, Ashley Knotts, drama teacher at Seashore Middle Academy, recognized her performers in “Cinderella’s Dream,” Jason Morris received special recognition for his technical work in “Cinderella’s Dream.”

A special presentation was made to Hilton Crocker in honor of his wife, the late Laura Crocker who was active in the PACT.
