The man killed Saturday morning, April 2, when he was working on his truck, has been identified.

Reynaldo Gonzalez, 67, of Laredo was killed when the jack gave way under his truck as he worked on it in his driveway in the 200 block of Marina Drive, Det. Sgt. Joey Rivas with the Port Aransas Police Department Criminal Investigation Division said.

The Dodge Ram truck was jacked up on the driveway, which was at an incline, according to Exec. Lt. James Stokes. The jack gave way and pinned Gonzalez under the truck, which rolled over him, Rivas said.

Rivas said a neighbor saw a flashlight moving around the home at about 6:30 a.m., and a passerby reported the incident at about 8 a.m. Gonzalez was already deceased at that time, Rivas said. The flashlight and the jack were found with Gonzalez under the truck, he said.

The incident is under investigation pending an autopsy, but Rivas said there were no signs of foul play and it is being considered as an accident at this point.
