Erich Schlegel of Austin rides a wave on a recent day at Horace Caldwell Pier in Port Aransas. A professional photographer, Schlegel mounted a waterproof camera on the nose of his surfboard to capture this image. A surf contest at the pier will be one of many features of the Old Town Festival Saturday, Oct. 19.
