Amos Birthday Bash to benefit ARK Endowment


A party to celebrate Tony Amos’s 80th birthday is set for Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Civic Center. Any remaining tickets for the event will be available at the door of the Civic Center, 710 W. Ave. A.

The party will begin at 7 p.m. with an open bar, and a seated dinner will begin at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $100 per person.

All the proceeds from the event will go to the ARK Endowment at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute.

Amos is a UTMSI research fellow, director of the Animal Rehabilitation Keep (ARK) now known as the Amos Rehabilitation Keep and a longtime columnist with the South Jetty newspaper.

Lee, Ed and Sid Bass of Fort Worth, who own San Jose Island, will be the honorary chairmen of the event in honor of Amos’s many years of studying their beach as well as his friendship with their late father, Perry Bass.

Carter Smith, executive director of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, will be the keynote speaker.
