Anglers to compete in three divisions Saturday

Majek boat owners will compete for trophies in the 2017 Majek Boat Owners Tournament set for Friday and Saturday, Aug. 11 and 12.

On-site registration is set for Friday, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., at Fred Rhodes Memorial Pavilion in Roberts Point Park.

Dinner begins at 6 pm., pro tips and captains’ meeting is at 7 p.m. and prize drawings and a group photo will be at 7:45 p.m.

Registration for adults is $110 per person. Registration includes fishing, dinner on Friday and Saturday nights, a goody bag and three tickets to the drawing for a 2017 Majek boat. Kids under 17 may register for $50 per person, which includes dinner both nights, a goody bag and three tickets for a kids’ grand prize.

Tickets to the Friday and Saturday night dinners may be purchased for non-anglers.

Anglers may register in amateur team, amateur family or pro/guide divisions.

On Saturday, fishing begins at daylight, the exact time to be given at the captains’ meeting.

The weigh-in will be held at Fred Rhodes Memorial Pavilion. Weigh-in times will be between 2 and 4 p.m.

Target fish are redfish between 20 and 28 inches, speckled sea trout larger than 15 inches, flounder, black drum less than 30 inches, sand trout and sheepshead.
