PAHS advances to bi-district competition at Kenedy

Members of the PAHS one-act play team performed in Kenedy on Thursday, March 9, at a district UIL competition. The team will advance to bi-district competition on Thursday, March 23. Courtesy photo Students from the Port Aransas High School one-act play team advanced to bi-district after competing in a UIL competition on Thursday, March 9.

The team performed “Bus Stop” by William Inge at the district competition at Kenedy High School.

Members of the group who received awards were as follows:

Matthew Daugird, Will Garner and Sunny Maynard, all-star cast; Aubrey Sergeant, best actress at district; Hunter Frost, honorable mention and Mat Allen, outstanding technical award.

The play is a mixture of comedy and drama that takes place in a street-corner diner where the bus passengers are forced to stop for the night due to icy road conditions.

In addition to Daugird, Garner, Maynard, Sergeant, Frost and Allen, the cast and crew include Nathan Murray, Ethan King, Tatem Shoemaker, Christian Pitney, Toby Suphachai, Madi Sheffield and Andrew Lallier .

Danny Reyes is the theater arts teacher.

The team will perform at the bi-district competition on Thursday, March 23, at a time to be announced.
