Hotel drug raid

Man arrested on warrant and paraphernalia charge

Police armed with a search warrant raided a hotel in the 1500 block of 11th Street on Tuesday, March 7.

The action took place beginning at about 10 a.m. at the Port Aransas Inn.

The warrant was obtained to search all vacant rooms at the hotel, police said. The Port Aransas Police Department obtained the warrant after receiving information from a confidential source that someone was selling marijuana at the hotel, said Scott Burroughs, chief of the PAPD.

Police found no drugs except for marijuana residue and bags believed to be used for packaging marijuana, said Burroughs.

Police arrested a man for outstanding municipal court warrants and possession of drug paraphernalia, said Matt Johnson, a detective with PAPD. The charges are misdemeanors.

At press time, police still were investigating the case, according to Burroughs.
