Port Aransas boy killed in car accident
Casey Delay, 15, of Port Aransas, has died in a car accident that also injured several other members of his family, according to school and police officials.
The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 285 about 25 miles south of the West Texas town of Pecos about 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, said Patricia Deishler, a dispatcher with the Texas Department of Public Safety office in Pecos.
Casey’s mother, Chrysta Tricarico, was driving a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder south on the highway when a tire blew out, causing her to lose control of the vehicle, Deishler said. The vehicle rolled.
Also in the Pathfinder were Tricarico’s other children: Cody, 18, Christopher, 8, and Chelcea, 4.
A DPS report shows that everyone in the car was wearing seatbelts, but all still sustained injuries of varying seriousness, the dispatcher said. They were taken to area hospitals, she said.
The family earlier had been visiting a relative in New Mexico during Spring Break, a Port Aransas school official said.
Casey was an eighth grader at Brundrett Middle School. Christopher attends H.G. Olsen Elementary School. Cody is a Port Aransas High School student.
