Auction, dinner, dancing on tap at annual VFW fundraiser

Bid on auction items, purchase raffle tickets, dine and dance on Saturday, Feb. 18, at the annual Moore-McDonald VFW Post 8967 fundraising auction.

The auction will begin at noon, followed by dinner, dancing and drawings.

Mynette Kolnes, a Winter Texan from Luverne, North Dakota, has donated a quilt to the auction that she made from Crown Royal whiskey bags.

Items such as gift certificates for numerous local area restaurants and clubs, fishing trips, gift baskets, animal care services, haircuts, crystal items, DVD sets and more will be available for bidding.

In addition to the auction items, Visa gift cards for $1,000, $250 and $100 also will be given away. Raffle tickets for the gift cards are $2 each or six for $10.

Tickets also may be purchased at the VFW anytime during business hours and up to the time of the drawing.

Following the auction will be a dinner of baked ham with beans, potato salad, coleslaw and dessert. A donation of $9 is requested to help with the cost of the meal.

The Visa gift card drawing will follow dinner. Ticket winners do not have to be present to win.

All proceeds from the event go to the post building fund and scholarships for graduating Port Aransas High School seniors.

All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

The VFW Post 8967 is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose purpose is to foster camaraderie among U.S. veterans, their families and the local community.
