JV stops Dulce’s ’Horns
The junior varsity Marlins worked up a sweat in Agua Dulce on Thursday, April 5, turning in 13 runs in the second inning as they swept to a 23-2 victory.
They did it by use of a littleused UIL rule that allows games to end after three innings if one team leads by at least 15 runs.
Christian Johnson, Dan Campbell and Blake Goodwin each took an inning on the mound. Combined, they gave up only two hits while striking out six.
Tyler Leonard brought some offense to the game, batting in five runs with three hits. Nick Maxham slammed a triple and batted in two runs.
Others contributing to what coach Joe Kocurek called a “hitting barrage” included Hunter Roos, Johnson, Campbell and Goodwin.
The Marlins sent 17 batters to the plate in the second inning.
