Junk joy

Winter Texan Judy Holliger of Diller, Neb., creates what she calls ‘beach junk art’ from shells and other stuff she finds while beachcombing in Port Aransas. Above, she shows a number of her works that depict everything from giraffes to birds to imaginary creatures. At left is her rendering of Marge Simpson, of ‘The Simpsons’ TV show, made from shells, fish bones and a tangle of fishing line. Holliger has created about 75 works, mostly as a hobby. She’s been at it for about three years now.
