Golf Ball Drop to repeat - but when?

The Port Aransas Kiwanis Club will host a second annual Golf Ball Drop, but the date is still up in the air.

The event normally follows the Port Aransas High School scholarship ceremony. But that ceremony has been changed this year to the evening of Tuesday, May 29 – and there won’t be time afterward to hold the Golf Ball Drop during daylight. A firm date will be announced later, Kiwanians said.

The event is hosted by the Port Aransas Kiwanis Club and sponsored by Christensen Construction, LLC and Island Construction.

Here’s how it works: Numbered golf balls will be dropped from the fire department’s hook and ladder truck toward a hole. The person whose ball lands in the hole, or is closest to the hole, as declared by a judge’s panel, will take home $1,000.

Balls are being sold for $10 each, or a dozen for $100, and may be purchased from any Kiwanian or at American Bank, A Mano, Coastal Creations Hair Salon and Gratitude Gift Shop. You also may contact the Kiwanis Club at portakiwanis@gmail.com to purchase balls.

Proceeds provide scholarships for PAHS students.
