STAFF PHOTO BY CHRISTIE ORTIZ Behind the no-hit pitching of Savannah Ortiz and some late-inning bats, the Lady Marlins handed the visiting La Villa Lady Cardinals a 6-0 defeat on Tuesday, March 13.

“Defensively, we played much better ( than earlier in the season),” coach Steve Reaves added. “We did commit three errors, but they were on hard-hit balls.”

Ortiz struck out eight batters and walked four on her way to the victory, adding another game to her “win” column.

Offensively, Kellie Owens drove in a run with a double in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth. Ortiz also had an RBI double in the fifth frame and Maddison Ray contributed another RBI in the sixth.

Ortiz wound up with three hits in her four trips to the plate, including her two doubles; Brenna Martin was also three for four with a double and two stolen bases.

Owens ended up going one for two, and Maddison Ray and Bakar Sackschewsky each had one hit in three trips to the plate.

Altogether, the ladies picked up 10 hits in the game.
