George Zivley, 77, of Houston died Friday, March 9, 2012.

He was the twin brother of Jo Leta Gavit of Port Aransas.

Zivley was born in 1934 in Austin, and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in engineering. A registered engineer, he loved designing and problem solving, particularly when working for NASA and Schlumberger. He had three patents.

He also enjoyed beekeeping and sailing. A member of the Houston Yacht Club, he often sailed in the Harvest Moon Regatta, a race from Galveston to Port Aransas.

In addition to his sister, Zivley is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Jessen Zivley; two sons, four grandchildren, and another sister, Ann Norton of San Antonio.
