Looking deep within
Wachs Water Services recently used a small underwater video camera to inspect the inside of a water line that runs under the Corpus Christi Ship Channel near the ferry landings. Nueces County Water Control and Improvement District No. 4 hired the firm to do the work.
Mike Sanchez handles equipment that guides the camera, which is attached to a long cable lowered into a manhole; the company van is a mobile headquarters for the operation; a protective concrete mat covers the pipeline where it enters the channel on Mustang Island; Sanchez adjusts the cable connected to the camera; and Dragan Pesakovic, left, and Fabio Orlandi watch a live video feed on a laptop in the van as the camera moves through the 200-foot pipeline. The inspection found no major problems.(See related story, page 1A.)
