Motorists going to or from Port Aransas via Aransas Pass will be re-routed today, Wednesday, March 14.

Traffic in Aransas Pass will detour around the railroad tracks that cross State Hwy. 361 (known at that point as Goodnight Street) in the vicinity of the Stripes Convenience Store and the H-E-B gas station.

Traffic coming from Port Aransas will detour one block north on Pacific Street to Wilson Avenue, then left on Wilson to Commercial Street (Loop 90) and south on Commercial to the intersection with Goodnight, which connects again to State Hwy. 361.

The reverse route will be used for Port Aransas-bound traffic.

The highway at the Union Pacific Railroad track will be closed all day Wednesday for maintenance work on the railroad tracks, according to Texas Department of Transportation spokesman Tom Tagliabue .
