Por t Ar ans as Hi g h School golf teams brought back second- place and third-place ribbons from the Mathis High School tournament held in Alice on Monday, March 5. Individual golfers brought back first-place and thirdplace trophies.

Hudson Ross took first place among the boys, with a score of 81; Dakota Cowen was third with a 91. The boys won third place overall out of nine teams, shooting 384.

The girls placed second overall in the tourney with 460; Megan Forrest took sixth place with a score of 107.

“It was overall a very successful beginning to another great golf season,” said coach Kris Jones, summing up the tournament.

The Mathis girls outscored the Lady Marlins by only 29 shots. The boys came in behind Sinton (376) and Mathis (381).
