Biking, running

About 45 children took part in the Skeeter Ride and Ramble at Port Aransas Community Park and the Port Aransas Nature Preserve at Charlie’s Pasture March 4. Kids biked about three miles and walked or ran two miles. Port Aransas schools collaborated with the city’s Parks and Recreation Department to put on the event. An H-EB grant funded the event. The Coastal Bend Regional Advisory Council-Trauma Service Area donated 25 helmets for kids who didn’t have them. Clockwise from top: Cyclists line up before the event starts; third grader Jerry Templeton leads a trio of bikers along a hike-andbike trail; and a boy runs on a boardwalk in the preserve.
