Marlins come from behind to score win
This year’s Marlins aren’t accustomed to having to come from behind to win a game, but that’s what they had to do in a warm-up against Industrial for the area playoffs on Saturday, Feb. 18.
The comeback was led by Andrew Groseclose, Chase Gustafson and Caleb Rogers, said coach Joe Kocurek. It was on a jumper by Tyler Pate that put the Marlins up in the second half, 46-45. They went on to win, 48-45.
Most of Industrial’s points came from outside the circle – they hit 10 three-pointers.
Pate led the Port Aransas scoring with 27 and went nine for 10 from the free throw line. As a team, the Marlins were 13 of 15 from the charity mark. Rogers finished with eight points, Gustafson put in five and Connor Collins, Groseclose, Jake Roberts and Austin Scott contributed two each.
The Marlins were waiting to learn who won the game between Gervin Academy of San Antonio and Johnson City; that will be their opponent tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 24, when they go to the next step of their postseason play.
