Ford will talk about Mercer logs on Monday

The Mercer Logs, a record of early days on Mustang Island, will be presented on Monday, Feb. 27, by historian Dr. John Guthrie Ford.

Ford also will provide listeners with an opportunity to pre-order his new book, “The Mercer Logs: Pioneer Times on Mustang Island, Texas.”

The logs are a diary kept by the Robert Mercer family from 1866 until 1877. These rare records provide historical information about early island times, including anecdotes about coastal pioneer life.

Refreshments will be served at the Port Aransas Museum, 101 E. Brundrett St., at 7 p.m., followed by the lecture in the community center, 408 N. Alister St., at 7:30 p.m.
