The Brundrett Middle School Marlins came back from Falls City on Thursday, Feb. 2, with two games in the loss column but, said coach Brian Flack, nothing to be ashamed of. The eighth-graders fell behind early and never caught up, trailing 0-8 in the first quarter and 8-17 at the half. The final score was 24-38. More ... The Brundrett Middle School Lady Marlins held the Beaverettes of Falls City to a low-scoring game on Thursday, Feb. 2, but couldn’t prevail as they lost, 12-23. Only one game, the eighthgrade game, was played by the girls. Sophia Marraro hit four points to lead the Brundrett girls. Lauren Hernandez, Ashley Mack, Aubrey Sergeant and Brittney Walker each put in two. More ... Next season will be a whole new experience for Marlin and Lady Marlin basketball players. The University Interscholastic League, the governing body for high school competition in Texas, has realigned basketball districts for 2012-2014, leaving the Marlins with only one of the four opponents they faced this year. Coach Brian Flack said although there was no seventh grade game on Feb. 6, both teams had successful years, putting together winning records (the eighth-graders’ victory put them at 6-2 in district).
