Port Aransas gets 2.37 inches of rain Port Aransas got some good relief from the drought on Sunday, Feb. 5. Our town got 2.37 inches of rain that day, according to Tony Amos, who is the official weather observer for the National Weather Service in Port Aransas. That’s the most rain Port Aransas has had in one day since Sept. 19, 2010, when 6.9 inches fell here, Amos said. An ironic weather fact: Last year was our driest year in 26 years, but we got 5.47 inches of rain in January 2011, making it appear at first that it was going to be a wet year, Amos said. Rainfall totals ranged mostly from one to three inches around the Coastal Bend Sunday, according to the National Weather Service office in Corpus Christi. Isolated totals of four to six inches were observed in western Nueces County, the weather service reported. No severe damage was reported to the weather service. |
