Students to accept sale items Sunday
Brundrett Middle School eighth-graders plan to be part of the city-wide garage sale on Saturday, Feb. 18, and they’re collecting items to sell.
Sales will help finance the annual eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C., where students get a first-hand look at the history and government of the nation. It’s scheduled for June.
Items for the garage sale can be dropped off in the storage buildings off Avenue C behind American Bank, in the second row of buildings at unit 15, said Anne Denton, one of the sponsors.
Someone will be at that location on Sunday, Jan. 22, and again on Sunday, Jan. 29, from 1-3 p.m., Denton said.
Anyone who can’t get to the storage units during those times can call Vanessa Brundrett at (361) 688-5188; to get someone to come by and pick up donations, call Paul Balcom ( 361) 443- 4928 or Denton (361) 779-9031.
The annual trip to Washington has become a tradition for Brundrett Middle School eighth-graders, who use the chance to see firsthand what they’ve learned in history class.
Students will travel with an accredited student travel organization and will be accompanied by parents and teachers.
