Lady Marlins put away Kats
“Offensively, the scoring was distributed through our entire team,” Cowen said. “I love that this group of girls is so unselfish and they share the ball so well. They are more concerned about winning than about their points.”
However, Cowen said the ladies still have some work to do. “We need to start focusing on putting people away and not letting them hang around for three quarters,” she said.
That came after the ladies allowed Yorktown to cut the lead to single digits in the third quarter. However, the Port Aransas girls tightened up their defense in the final period and opened up their lead again.
Madison Ray was the leading scorer and the only player in double digits; she put in 11 points. Savannah Ortiz hit nine, Missy Gilbreath put in six, Anna Roberson and Devan Murray got five points apiece, Brenna Martin and Samantha Richardson hit two apiece and Jenna Socha got one.
