Marlin boys run to state

Matt Fries, with a time of 17:04, finished fourth in regional competition in San Antonio on Saturday, Nov. 5, and was the highest finisher of the Marlins runners.
However, Corban Marcantel was close behind at seventh (17:18) and Austin Henderson was 13th (17:43). Since all three were in the top 15 at the regional meet, they earned All- Region honors.
Randy Borden, Collin Barr and Andrew Hardegree rounded out the top six Marlins.

“We were neck and neck with Comstock, and just got edged out for the regional championship, but that just left the guys fired up for this weekend,” coach Steve Reaves said. He said the team is concentrating on upgrading its medals at the state level.
“If we can get healthy and have a great day running at the right time, I believe we have a team that can do it,” he said.
The Lady Marlins missed a trip to the state meet by only two points, finishing fifth out of 24 schools and only two seconds out of third place.
