Sand pumpkin carving Saturday
Do you like to make faces? If you do, the annual Sand Pumpkin Patch may be for you.
“Pumpkin” carvers are invited to a sand pumpkin patch on the beach from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29.
Anyone wanting to have some fun getting creative while making pumpkins and jack-o-lantern faces is invited. No skill is required. Expert sculptors and volunteers will be available on the beach just south of Avenue G to teach participants how to carve the pumpkins. The City of Port Aransas will dump a mound of sand in which vines and pumpkin heads will be created.
“It’s a judgment-free event, just for fun,” said program coordinator Pam Greene.
The event is free and sponsored by the City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department, but canned goods and cash will be accepted for the Helping Hands Food Pantry.
Participants are welcome to bring any kind of utensils they wish for carving.
Contact Greene at 749-4158 or firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer or for more information.
