West Guth Park in Corpus Christi is what Marlins coach Steve Reaves calls “one of the hardest courses in Texas.”

“It’s always fun to run there and challenge ourselves,” Reaves said. On Saturday, “The weather was nice, and the course was in good shape,” he said. “I thought we had a good weekend. The kids ran well.”

The Oct. 13 poll of the Texas Cross Country Coaches Association shows the Marlin varsity boys back in the first place ranking of 1A cross country teams. They started the year in the number one spot but slipped to third on the second bi-weekly poll.
