The boys finished seventh as a team, coach Steve Reaves reported, with Matt Fries finishing 24th among the runners. Reaves reported Fries placed in the top 25 despite having to stop and re-tie a shoelace.
Reaves said the weather was good for running, but the drought made conditions dusty on the course.
“It was a big race, as usual, with around 300 in each race,” Reaves said. “Because of the number of runners, the course was very congested for the first mile or so, making the course slow.”
The course at Round Rock’s Old Settlers Park is the one the state meet will be run on. The trip to the meet Saturday was partly financed by bake sales, and Reaves thanked everybody for their support.
