Pelican Circle residents without water

Should be back on by 4 p.m.

Residents of Pelican Circle will be without water until about 4 p.m., thanks to a water line on Sixth Street that broke this afternoon.

The line was broken when construction crews were working on what are called “dead end” lines to loop them to improve water quality and water pressure, said Mark Young. He is manager of Nueces County Water Control and Improvement District No. 4.

“Dead end” lines cause water to stagnate and lower water pressure. By looping them to other lines, it moves the water to prevent stagnation and increases the water pressure, Young said.
