Singing guitarist will headline free concert

Kick up your heels or prop up your feet while listening to a live music concert in the park on Friday, Sept. 9.

Sunset Sounds is a free monthly concert series held at the Patsy Jones Amphitheater in Roberts Point Park from 7 to 9 p.m.

This month will feature Texas singer and songwriter, George Ensle, performing a unique fingerpicking style originating from his classical guitar training and honed over the years. Ensle has been dubbed a “songpainter” for developing story and song portraits with his seamless music and lyrics of “ real people making it in the real world.”

Concert-goers can watch the sun set and enjoy refreshments brought from home. Don’t forget to bring a chair or blanket to sit on.

The concerts are held the second Friday of the month from April through October, courtesy of the Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department. The last concert of the 2011 season will be Tumble Dry Low, on Oct. 14, performing country and popular selections.

After a short break, Parks and Recreation will continue with Winter Sounds concerts. Held in January and February, Winter Sounds will be in partnership with the Port Aransas Community Theatre. Due the weather, this series is held at the theatre.
