The Port Aransas High School cross country team plans practice trips to San Antonio and Round Rock to work on the courses used at regional and state meets.

To help with expenses, the runners will hold bake sales at the Family Center IGA on Saturday, Aug. 20, Sunday, Aug. 28, and Sunday, Sept. 4. All sales will start at 9 a.m. and go until the goodies run out.

Last year, the Marlins placed second in the state cross-country meet in Round Rock; the year before, they were eighth. Members of last year’s team who return this year said they want to take the blue ribbon in 2011.
