Athletes:
Physicals have been scheduled for potential Port Aransas High School athletes and cross-country practice will begin next month.
High school physical exams are scheduled for Friday, Aug. 5, at Dr. Bruce Russell’s office, 600 Cut-off Road. Girls’ physicals will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and boys’ physicals are from 3 to 5 p.m.
Incoming ninth- and 11thgraders who plan to participate in athletics must have a physical, said Port Aransas ISD Athletic Director Steve Reaves.
“Also, anybody who checks ‘yes’ on questions 1 through 6 on the medical history form must have an annual physical,” Reaves said. He said forms are available at the high school starting Monday, Aug. 1, or can be downloaded from the UIL Web site at www.uiltexas.org/files/athletics/forms/preparticipation physical-evaluation. pdf .
Cost of the physical exam is $30, payable at the time of the exam, or students may get physicals at their own doctor’s office, but must take the UIL form with them.
Additionally, cross country begins Monday, Aug. 8, at 6:30 a.m., Reaves said. Participants will meet at the Port Aransas High School gym at 6:15 a.m., prepared to start the season.
“Make sure you have all your paperwork filled out and ready to turn in,” Reaves reminded runners.
