Tax rate could remain same
Let’s talk money.
Port Aransas city staff is proposing that the city council approve a tax rate for fiscal year 2011-2012 that’s the same as the current year’s rate, according to the city’s finance director, Darla Honea.
That rate is 33.2023 cents per $100 valuation.
Port Aransas property values are relatively flat this year, so taxpayers may end up seeing a decrease in the amount they end up paying in taxes to the city, according to information in a memo from City Manager Robert Bradshaw to council members.
The council is scheduled to meet in a workshop to discuss the matter at 5 p.m. today, Monday, Aug. 1. The meeting will be at council chambers in city hall, 710 W. Ave. A.
While a discussion will take place today, a final vote on the tax rate is expected at a later date.
