Junior Alex Groseclose is the third baseman on the All- State second team.

Andrew Groseclose also drew honorable mention as a shortstop and Pate received honorable mention as a pitcher.

Players are nominated by their coaches; members of the association then pick the first, second and third teams and honorable mentions. Members of the Texas Sports Writer’s Association are sports writers and sports editors on daily and weekly newspapers as well as sports Internet services.

SOUTH JETTY FILE PHOTO The Groseclose brothers and Pate were credited with being a large part of the Marlins’ record-breaking 2011 season, during which they went to the regional quarterfinal round for the first time. The 2011 team also won more games than any previous Marlin team.

Their season ended on May 21 with a regional quarterfinal loss to Johnson City.

Coach Brian Flack said after that game that the team was already planning a winning 2012 season.
