The Port Aransas Swim Team is in need of financial support for the 2011 summer swim season.

The swim team makes an effort to keep its registration affordable for members. It isn’t just asking businesses to donate, but also individuals. The suggested donation for the scholarship fund is $75, but any amount will be accepted.

The scholarship fund helps with purchases of swimsuits and team t-shirts for members who can’t afford them. Donations also have been used in the past to pay for the purchases of starting blocks, backstroke flags, pace clocks and computer software used for running swim meets.

The swim team offers youth a chance to succeed and grow individually and allows the opportunity to work as a team, said Nana Ward.

The swim team will recognize the support of business that donate by placing their company’s name on the Team Spirit Banner which will be displayed at all of the swim meets this summer including out of town meets such as regional and state championships, which will take place in July.
