The recreational red snapper season set by the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council ends on Tuesday, July 19, not on Sunday, June 19, as reported in the June 16 edition of the South Jetty. The 48-day recreational red snapper season nevertheless is the shortest ever imposed by the government, according to the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council.
