For most of Port Aransas, it will be business as usual on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30.
While city hall, the water district, the schools, American Bank and ValueBank will be closed, most other businesses will be open.
Trash and recyclables will be collected on the usual schedule, and law enforcement and emergency medical services will be on duty.
The South Jetty will be open with a skeleton staff, and the deadline for news and advertising of noon on Monday will remain in effect.
“Of course, ‘deadline’ means the last possible moment. Any news items or ads that can be turned in on Friday, May 27, will be appreciated,” said editor and co-publisher Mary Henkel Judson.
