William Mark Armstrong, formerly of Port Aransas, died Monday, May 16, 2011, at the age of 51.

Armstrong was born Feb. 21, 1959, in Montgome r y, Ala. to Wi l li am Mack and Lucy Weekly Arm- strong. He attended Texas City High School prior to entering the army in 1976, serving in South Korea until 1983. Upon discharge he moved to Port Aransas and served the community as a bailiff, jail guard and animal control officer.

He had been battling renal cancer for the last five years.

Survivors include two sons, William Mark Armstrong Jr. and William Marc Armstrong; his mother, Lucy Jones; sister, Teresa Yeager; and aunts, Becky Lyle, Deborah McInnis and Lenora Sherwood.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor at his sister’s home, whom he resided with until having to be moved to a care facility in Aransas Pass in April.
