The Lady Marlins will go to Jourdanton, south of San Antonio, on Friday, May 6, fora7p.m.gameagainstthe Center Point Lady Pirates. The winner-take-all prize of the one-game playoff: A trip to the regional quarterfinals on Saturday, May 14.

The Port Aransas girls ended up in a three-way tie for first place in District 32-A and had to win a two-game district playoff to be determined the winner. They’ll go against Center Point, a team with a 14-6 season record, which was runner-up to Johnson City in District 29-A.

Center Point got to the area level by beating Brackett High School on Friday, April 29, in a convincing 15-1 four-inning game.

The location of the regional quarterfinals playoffs hasn’t been announced. The regional semifinals are Saturday, May 21, also at a location to be announced, with the finals on Saturday, May 28.

The state softball finals are Thursday, June 2, through Saturday, June 4, at McCombs Field in Austin, a block off Interstate Highway 35 and across Comal Street from Disch-Falk Field.
