Double feature at PACT this weekend

Doors will open at the Port Aransas Community Theatre for two one-act plays to be performed by theatre arts students from Seashore Middle Academy.

A double feature of “The Bathroom Door” and “Whose Movie is it Anyway?” will be performed Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7, at 7 p.m., and on Sunday, May 8, at 2:30 p.m., at the theatre, 2327 St. Hwy. 361.

“ The Bathroom Door” a UIL winning performance by Gertrude E. Jennings, is about five guests in a hotel who are all vying to gain access the only bathroom. The door will not open, and after much impatience a discussion as to why the occupant is taking so long ensues. One guest comes to the conclusion that her husband, with whom she has had a quarrel, must have locked himself in the bathroom and done away with himself. Enter then a servant who discloses that the door is not locked at all, and the bathroom is empty.

“Whose Movie is it Anyway” is an interactive performance in which eight movie scenes, spanning from the late 1930s to early 2000s, will be performed in no certain order. The audience will have the opportunity at the end of each scene to guess which movie it is.

Both plays are directed by Ashley Knotts. Cast members are Rachel Nash, Ian Berry, Collin Willis, Kayla French, Hayley Campbell, AC Wood, Corinne Kimper, Josh Ordonez, Kelly Robbins, Abby Burns, Ania Taraszewski, Kelly Smith, Harrison Clark and Shelby Fox.

Open seating admission will be $5, payable at the door with no reserved seats or advance ticket sales.

Seashore Middle Academy is part of the Island Foundation schools, open enrollment public charter schools. Residents of the Port Aransas zip code are among those served by the schools.
